Was It Spring Last Week?

So Spring came last week and then went away again in Melbourne.  Some packed away their black boots, woollen clothes and gumboots...and then Winter came back.  We still have Winter snow holidays to get through which may turn into bushwalking if the beautiful weather returns.  Well it is a certainty that it will so we started thinking about Spring colours.  Here is some inspiration...a necklace that I finished yesterday for a special person in my life.  She has been my supporter from birth!!  Jane has an amazing supporter in this department too!!

NeckSpice Debut on Channel 10

We have some exciting news about our necklaces - one of our woollen and crystal necklaces (the Clove design) made its debut on The Circle (Channel 10) on Friday morning (5 August 2011) – it was worn by Jane Kennedy (in the yellow and black).  Jane came to our first launch last year and this is one that she bought.  She has chosen quite a few more NeckSpice pieces from different areas of the new range and will be wearing them in the next few weeks – so stay tuned to The Circle for more NeckSpice magic.  We were so excited about having a necklace on such a fun program as The Circle and .....on National TV – We are still floating 10 feet off the ground!

Creating What I Love The Most For Others

It always seems that when you create something you truly love someone will come along and say I would like one of those.  This happened to me twice this week.  I was wearing the necklaces that my daughter and I designed for the recent NeckSpice evening showing - on two seperate occassions friends saw me and asked me to recreate the necklaces.  I explained that I can't duplicate them exactly as some of the beads are one off creations by a glass blower in Fitzroy, Melbourne.  They were unperturbed - one friend insisted "make me one as close as you can to yours".  Ok so now I am back at the beading table with my necklaces and I am "copying" my own designs!

What a wonderful time we had at the showing of 2011 Collection.  Thank you to all those who could attend and we are so thrilled with all your positive feedback and comments.  Obviously we love the range but to have people purchase items and tell us about their "I was wearing my NeckSpice piece and someone commented on how quirky and beautiful my necklace is...." was really special.

Reading and Beading

We have been reading and beading ... and neglecting our domestic duties ... yippee.  Somehow though we have managed to keep our families happy, on track and create wonderful pieces for the Winter Collection.  Have a sneak peak at what we will be showing in June 2011.

She Made Me Do It

Finally Jane forced me to sit down for a whole 4 hours and do admin with no beading...ugh....I know...I know...hard to take off the creative hat and do all the behind the scenes stuff but we had to do it.  Now that all that is in place we can get back to creating our 2011 collection.  Some of our new necklaces have been inspired by the Autumn colours in Melbourne, some from the new beads that we have sourced, and some from our heart.  Here is a sneak preview of what we will be showing at our next morning tea....and perhaps even an evening showing with champagne!!

New Bead Shipment and Visit by Goddaughter

New shipment of beads arrived yesterday and we had a pizza night with my God daughter's family to celebrate the end of Term 1, Easter and all things good in life.  While I was distracted making pizza my very young and creative Goddaughter took a tour through my new bead collection.  She put together these two beautiful necklaces.  I think I might be seeking her out as a full time designer when she grows up.  Wishing all of you happy school holidays.

Giving Back to the Community

Jane and I have always had a strong sense of community and we are thrilled to show you some of our creations that have been donated to the St John's Gala Fund Raising Dinner - it was held on 23 March 2011.  The two necklaces were created especially for the dinner and were auctioned off on the night.  The feedback is that both designs were a spectacular hit.
